Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Fastmount?

Fastmount is a dynamic New Zealand company that has been designing, patenting and manufacturing rapid clip fixing systems since 2004, and is now present in over 50 countries worldwide.

What are Fastmount systems used for?

They are used for the fast fixing and removal of panels, wall paneling, ceilings, furniture, decorative elements, cladding, components and much more.

How does the system work?

The system is based on the mechanical coupling and uncoupling of male and female clips, available in different ranges and compatible with each other.
The choice of the most suitable clip pair depends on the specific application, the type of material, the fixing surface and the load to be supported.

What are the advantages?

Fast and easy installation and removal with consistently precise alignment, modularity, clean installation with no visible pins, screws or fasteners, and the ability to remove any single panel without having to follow a specific sequence.
In addition, the clips can accommodate expansion, movement and vibration. Some models, such as the SLX series, also allow panel position adjustment even after installation.

What materials are the clips made of?

Depending on the model, different materials are used, including self-lubricating thermoplastics and metal.

How are the clips fixed in place?

Depending on the model and the material of the substrate, there are self-tapping clips, clips fixed with screws, adhesive-bonded clips, and even sew-on clips for fastening cushions, upholstery and headboards.

Which adhesive should be used for glue-on clips?

Glue-on clips are not only chemically bonded but also mechanically anchored thanks to the special shape of their base. The adhesive flows into dedicated slots and, once cured, forms a mechanical “hook” that retains the clip.
For this reason, the best adhesive to use is simply the one most suitable for the surface to which the clip is being bonded, greatly simplifying installation.

Are CNC machines required to align male and female clips?

Yes and no. If the installation does not involve CNC machining, a centering clip is available that allows manual alignment, even directly during installation.

Are tolerances allowed for material expansion or post-installation adjustment?

Each clip has its own elasticity that allows a certain degree of movement. Some models allow in-plane movement in any direction of up to 6 mm, making it possible, for example, to adjust the gap between two panels even after they have been installed.

Can Fastmount be used to fix anything?

There are many application fields, including ceilings, paneling and furniture on boats from 5 m to over 100 m (both sailing yachts and powerboats exceeding 60 knots), trains, prefabricated houses, chairs, sofas, tables, motorhomes, tiles, lightweight marble slabs, furniture components, wall paneling in hotels, restaurants and homes, office partitions, acoustic sound-absorbing panels, counters, headboards, industrial machinery covers, automotive applications, modular retail walls, and more.
The real limit of use lies in the user’s good judgment. Fastmount systems are not designed for external façade cladding.

Are fire-rated clips available?

Yes. They are manufactured using special blends of high-performance plastics or in metal.

Is it possible to develop custom clips for specific requirements?

Yes. Fastmount provides technical support and over 20 years of experience. Each project is evaluated case by case, and minimum production volumes are required to justify the necessary investment.

Are safety anti-fall systems available for ceiling-mounted panels?

Yes. This is the PANEL SAFE product family.
